Shetland Ways Film Series

This year’s Shetland Wool Week theme, Shetland Ways, shines a spotlight on the rich diversity of skills and traditions that define Shetland knitting and wool preparation. Across this series of short films we follow the journey from fleece to finished object -  exploring the time-honoured techniques behind fleece preparation, Shetland lace, Fair Isle knitting, and finishing methods.

From the makkin belt to intricate finishing touches, Shetland knitters have developed their own ‘ways’ over generations. There is no single ‘right way, but rather a shared culture of efficiency, innovation and beautiful craftsmanship.

There are four films covering:
Fleece | Shetland Lace Knitting | Fair Isle Knitting | Finishing

Our films sit on a separately hosted site called PayHip - the links below will open in a new window to our PayHip store.
We have made the four Shetland Ways films available to buy as a bundle, the same four films are also available to buy individually.
