In 1958 a remarkable treasure of silver and silver-gilt objects was found on St Ninian's Isle, Shetland. It is one of the most important archaeological discoveries made in Scotland during the 20th century. Dating to around AD800, this is the only Scottish hoard of fine metalwork of this date to survive in its entirety.
This booklet describes and illustrates the circumstances of the discovery and the contents of the treasure.
