Destination Viking Sagalands: The Icelandic Sagas and Oral Tradition in the Nordic World
This guidebook represents the culmination of the Destination Viking Sagalands project involving seventeen partners from eight different countries: Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Norway, Sweden, Scotland (Orkney and Shetland), the Isle of Man, and Canada (Newfoundland).
In this guidebook, the partners of the Sagalands project present their saga stories and other narratives relating to their area, with specific emphasis on the places where the events occurred. Visitors will now be able to use their imagination to recreate in their minds events that happened more than 1000 years ago. Several generations have passed, but the landscape remains much the same.
Enjoy a journey back to the Age of the Icelandic Sagas, and then consider a visit to the partners' area - their museums and Saga-related sites - all around the region.
