Issue 17: Summer 2016

Welcome to the summer issue of 60 North. Recently we’ve been enjoying some fantastic weather so many of us have been exploring our beautiful isles and enjoying fresh air and sunshine. It doesn’t come as a surprise that walking is the most popular outdoor activity in Shetland. The combination of spectacular coastal scenery on both the North Sea and Atlantic facing cliffs, quiet inland lochs, and gentle heathery hills is unsurpassed.

In this issue Kevin Serginson heads for Foula for some extremely remote hiking, Tom Morton tells us about his passion for kayaking and Keiba Clubb will introduce us to an exciting new outdoor swimming group called Selkies. We love visiting Shetland’s wonderful gardens and this time we’ll take you to Da Gairdins I Sand and Cruisdale in Sandness. And as usual we have some fantastic recipes for you to try out, this time by two food writers and travellers Josh Sutton and Kerstin Rodgers.

So enjoy the summer and the great outdoors!
